Butcher (Meat Cutter) Full Time

Position: Butcher

Responsibilities:

• Meat Cutting and Preparation: Perform skilled tasks in cutting, deboning, trimming, and preparing various cuts of meat according to customer preferences and specifications.
• Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory of meat products, ensuring proper rotation and freshness. Order and restock supplies as needed.
• Customer Service: Assist customers in selecting, weighing, and packaging meat products. Provide information and recommendations regarding different cuts, cooking methods, and recipes.
• Sanitation and Safety: Adhere to strict hygiene and safety standards in handling, storing, and preparing meat products. Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment.
• Knife Skills: Demonstrate precision and expertise in the use of knives and other cutting tools to ensure accurate and consistent cuts.
• Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain meat processing equipment, such as grinders, slicers, and bandsaws, ensuring proper functioning and safety.
• Quality Control: Inspect meat products for quality, freshness, and proper labeling. Discard or report any items that do not meet quality standards.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food handling guidelines, and sanitation practices.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Proven experience as a butcher or meat cutter in a retail or wholesale environment.
• Knife Skills: Proficient in the use of knives and meat-cutting tools, demonstrating precision and efficiency.
• Knowledge: Thorough understanding of different cuts of meat, animal anatomy, and proper meat handling techniques.
• Customer Service: Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact positively with customers and address their inquiries.
• Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy cuts of meat, and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate cuts, portion control, and quality standards.
• Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with team members.
• Hygiene and Safety: Knowledge of and adherence to sanitation and safety standards in a food-handling environment.
• Certification: Formal training or certification in meat cutting or a related field is a plus.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as dictated by business needs.
